REMEMBER BIRTHDAYS, ANNIVERSARIES AND OTHER EVENTS
With family and friends scattered all over the globe, remembering special events is always a challenge. Especially as you grow older and the family gets bigger. But, there is a foolproof way to stay ahead of the pack.
It’s so embarrassing when you forget your husband / wife / best friend’s birthday. It feels (and says) that you don’t really care about them when in actual fact, you would do anything for them because you love them. Actually, my best friend and I have a 14 year friendship and our birthdays are two weeks apart. Once, only once, did we actually remember each other’s birthday. Fortunately we are in constant contact, through thick and thin and good days and bad days and remain very good friends.
So, now I am going to tell you what I have done to ensure that I NEVER forget a birthday or anniversary ever again!
Get all your birthday, anniversary and events you want to celebrate together on a list. Eg. Spouse, siblings, parents, sons, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, friends, girlfriend, boyfriend, colleagues, clients, pastor. Don’t forget to add your wedding anniversary as this will ensure a peaceful life. Add anniversaries of your children and grandchildren. They always appreciate it if you remember their special day.
Go to any of the free Ecard websites, sign up for an account and get ready to load all those dates and write all the cards that you need, and then select the date on which you want the card sent and also the email. Yip, it’s that easy. What you can also do if you don’t want to send an E-card, is have the provider send the card to you (and this is important) two days before the event. This way you can print the card, write a personal message in your own handwriting and hand deliver or send by mail. This will also spark a reminder to order flowers or gift baskets or even go shopping yourself for a special gift.
You can also set reminders in your Outlook calendar but then you need to remember the card and the gift. If you are someone that makes your own cards, then the Outlook reminders will work for you. Just be sure to leave enough time for you to make the card. If you're into digital card making and scrapping, enquire with the card company if you can upload your own digital card as some will allow this, otherwise use Outlook and insert the card into the body of the ‘appointment’ block. When the date comes up, simply attach the file to your email and send or print the card. You can do a search on the web for ‘free ecards’ and take your pick.
Order Flowers or Gift baskets online. Netflorist have a reminder service for you to use as well as a frequency programme where you can 'collect petals' and exchange them for a free basket.
No excuse to ever miss a birthday, Secretary’s Day or any other event ever again!
