Creamy, Dreamy Lotion

.33 oz glycerin
1 oz stearic acid
1.6 oz Ewax
.80 oz mango butter
4.4 oz of oil
(any combination of oils you like will be fine. My favorite is avocado, jojoba, apricot kernel and soy)
13.75 oz water
13.4 oz aloe
.2 oz preservative
˝ to 1 tsp of fragrance or essential oil

Put the first 7 ingredients (liquid glycerin to the aloe) in a large microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 4 minutes. After the 3 minutes stir the mixture and then put the bowl back into the microwave. Heat on high for 1 minute. Take the container out of the microwave and check them. You want to heat until all the ingredients are melted (about 5-10 minutes depending on your microwave). The ingredients in your bowl will look milky when they have melted completely. Do not heat to boiling.

When the first 7 ingredients have melted you’re ready to mix! Mix with a stick blender or hand mixer for about 2 minutes. Let mixture sit for about 10 minutes then stick blend it for about 2 minutes. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes then blend for 1 minute. About this time it should be starting to get thick and creamy. Let it sit for another five minutes and then blend in the vitamin e, preservative, fragrance and color. Spoon into jars.

Glorious Lotion

8 Tablespoons Shea Butter
3 Tablespoons Almond Oil
4 Tablespoons Olive Oil
3 rounded Tablespoons Emulsifying Wax
3 Tablespoons Liquid Glycerin
3 cups (24 ounces) Aloe Vera
1 teaspoonful of SoapCrafters Sweetgrass Fragrance
3 drops of Emerald Green Liquid Colorant
4 eight ounce clear bottles
4 lotion pumps

Unusual Equipment you'll need:
A Thermometer
A Stick Blender

This is an awesome lotion containing a high percentage of shea butter and also a good amount of Aloe!  It is light and your skin will drink it right up.  It leaves your skin smooth and there is no waxy or oily feel to your body afterwards.

Heat Shea Butter to 200 degrees and turn off the heat.  Leave it on the stove to sit for 15 minutes.  If it looks like it will drop below 180, then give it a shot of heat again.  You want it to stay over 180 for 15 minutes.

Remove from stove and add Emulsifying Wax.  Stir until melted.  Add the almond and olive oils to the mix.

In a separate pot, mix together the aloe vera and the glycerin.  Stir until mixed.  Heat to 120 degrees and remove from heat.

Make sure oils mixture is 120 degrees, heat if necessary but don't get it too hot.

Slowly pour aloe mixture in to the oils mixture.  Whip with a stick blender for about 1 minute.  Allow to cool for about 30 minutes, but whip it again every 5-10 minutes.

After 30 minutes is up, add the fragrance and colorant.   Stir in with a stick blender.  Pour in to bottles.  Be sure to leave room in the bottle for the lotion pump.  They take up more room in the bottle than you think!

You will probably have a couple ounces of lotion left over.  Put the leftovers in purse size containers.  (Everyone's measuring devices are a little different.)

NOTE:  All lotions must have a preservative added or else bacteria and possibly mould will grow in it.  This is because it contains water.   SoapCrafter's Aloe Vera contains enough antimicrobial to protect the lotion in this recipe from bacteria and mould growth.  If you use another Aloe Vera Liquid, you will need to add a preservative.

Variation!

You can pour into small muffin tins to get a "massage melt". You can use any of the recipes for this.  You can use the little muffin size for a hand held massage butter.
